15 minutes from where I live

If there's one thing I know for sure-- going to the beach midday with a camera will ensure white skies-- no matter how blue they are in reality.

But, it doesn't matter cause I had so much fun. Just fun. The breeze was perfect. The dogs ran and ran and swam and swam.

I let the sand squish between my toes and the water rush through my ankles as I wandered down the beach-- snapping shots for the sheer fun of it.

I'll stop there as they are endless-- these shots.

  1. This summer was the first time I can remember walking on a beach collecting shells. Many of them were broken but I didn't care. I was amazed at their colors, textures and shapes. When my flimsy bag--the one from the hotel's bathroom garbage can--broke and spilled my treasures I gathered the pieces and washed them in my room's sink and let them dry on a towel beneath the vanity. I carefully wrapped them in an empty snack box and craddled it in my carry on. The shells are in a clear shallow glass bowl above my kitchen sink where I can see them several times a day and remember my day on the beach. All this came to mind as I looked through your pictures and wondered at all the shells and fragments on the beach.

  2. Beautiful! I miss the ocean so much these days- although Brooklyn has beaches they are not so good for walking barefoot- this looks like paradise!

  4. I love the ocean. I live in Minnesota. NO. OCEAN. Your photos are so perfect, I can pretend so well. And I know that the point was to photograph the beach and the horizon, but that photo with Daisy nosing up to Henry...priceless.
