my summer report

upload

She let go.

Without a thought or a word, she let go.
She let go of fear.
She let go of the judgments.
She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head.
She let go of the committee of indecision within her.
She let go of all the ‘right’ reasons.

Wholly and completely,
without hesitation or worry,
she just let go.

She didn’t ask anyone for advice.
She didn’t read a book on how to let go. . . she didn’t search the scriptures.
She just let go.
She let go of all of the memories that held her back.
She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward.
She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right.

She didn’t promise to let go.

It's that time of day. (Iced coffee with almond milk)

She didn’t journal about it.
She didn’t write the projected date in her day-timer.
She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper.
She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope.

She just let go.

TGIF

She didn’t analyze whether she should let go.
She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter.
She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment.
She didn’t call the prayer line.
She didn’t utter one word.

She just let go.

Little garage at the end of the lane #provylove

No one was around when it happened.
There was no applause or congratulations.
No one thanked her or praised her.
No one noticed a thing.

Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go.

There was no effort.
There was no struggle.
It wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad.
It was what it was, and it is just that.
In the space of letting go, she let it all be.
A small smile came over her face.
A light breeze blew through her.
And the sun and the moon shone forevermore.

    1. you can LET GO for 10 minutes--- an hour-- you know? practice letting go in full moments.

I MISS you and hope your summer is being sweet to you. oxoxooxo

    2. Oh, yes. Of course. I used to be so good about this! I would get up every morning and just sit for 10ish minutes, sometimes more. That was SO LONG ago. You are so right that I need to do this again. It really helps with EVERYTHING. Isn't it sad that I can absolutely know this, and yet I still let myself (and my TO DO list) get in the way? It is just like the saying, "The important is always pushed aside for the urgent." (or something like that...) So. True. Oh, I love reading your words so much! My summer has been more hectic than usual, but still sweet and happy. I have told myself I need to write one post (at least...) before school starts. I need to do an update at least. I have let that part go, mostly because there has been so many other things! I think I need to print this out and tape it up somewhere too. I need to go read Harry Potter to my kids now they are all in here looking at me! Sending you big LOVE! xoxoxoxox

  7. "She let go of all of the memories that held her back.
She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward."

right in the middle of those two things... there is peace.

    love your post.

  11. Even though I know better, I still get stuck in 'shoulds', instead of remembering that it's all in me, in my control to decide how I'm going to react (or not react). I don't have to do things in the way everybody else does them. The tough stuff doesn't have to be all drama and angst and analyzing. Thanks, Elizabeth.

  12. Yes. THE change is quiet and unpredicted. Nothing to do with wanting, planning. I believe that letting go is like being a vessel for the woman inside. It feels so full of joy, this poem. A knowing and quiet and deep rooted joy. Love this!! The leaf! No coincidence that I am still designing my MoM shawl and it has leaves inside... Thank you so much for sharing this, dear E.! Hugs!
