The week continued just like that. Every morning cool enough for a light sweater then by 10 am full on warm enough to go for a swim. Clear skies. No humidity. Heaven. We kept exploring the area including an ancient monastery where we hiked around (read: got lost) and ate one delicious meal after the next.
Of course, it all began with breakfast each morning in our beautiful B&B.
Then, on Friday night we were invited to the rehearsal dinner (there were 50 of us) and I have to say, that was one of my most favorite moments of the whole trip. I do lose sight of what an amazing family I have and how loving and kind they are. To be welcomed into such a vibrant, fun and brilliant tribe (that has its fair share of the kooky, crazy and ordinary to be sure) felt like coming home.
I never felt the truth more that that "home" is a feeling, a vibration.
I took no photos that night, but next day was Saturday and the wedding was on!
Kate had a fabulous pink dress and a white fascinator in her hair. I got my dress the day before I left Providence on a total whim and I have to say, I loved it. It doesn't photograph well-- but I loved it, got quite a few compliments and can we talk about COMFORTABLE? Oh dear lord, the one thing I hate about dressing up is being uncomfortable.
And? best of all-- I wore it another bunch of times as a day dress in Paris.
Providence shopping for the win!
Clarification from yesterday's post. Grignan does not have a cathedral, but a CASTLE. It does have a gorgeous church, however and that is where the wedding was.
Bubbles, not rice, for the bride and groom as they exit the church!
Then? the PARTY that lasted three. whole. days. I am so not kidding you. They wheeled me out at 2:30 am with the gray-haired in wheelchairs.
A very full weekend of partying, swimming, dancing, eating, drinking, bocce and long, long conversations. So good.
I get tired just remembering . .. . more soonest.
a demain, Elizabeth
*This month -- 30 days -- I am writing a letter to my dear friend Mindy because I happened on Mindy's post where she honored me to my core -- sharing that she reads my blog (my long, long neglected blog) and it inspired me to promise that for one full month -- 30 days of September-- I would write her a letter each, and every day. Let's see how I do . . . :)
